Is to provide enjoyment with delicious in-house made food, exquisite drinks and worldwide known and selected delicatessen brands but at the same time preserving and creating masterpiece culinary recipes of Ukrainian traditional cuisine.

Our History:

 Chumatskiy Shlyah Ltd was founded on April, 22, 1999 which makes it by far one of the oldest retail and wholesale companies in the 20 year old independent country of Ukraine.

The name is derived from the legendary Zaporizskie Cossack-merchants called “Chumaki” (hence Chumatskiy) and “Shlyah” (way in Ukrainian) or the “way of Chumakis” . They were one the first entrepreneurs and international merchants in Ukraine. We aim to enhance and develop on the their legacy and success in our way.

Our first delicatessen gastronomic grocery was open in downtown Kiev on Basseyina St. on May, 11, 1999 followed by the second one on 7, Pobeda St. in January of 2000. They have rapidly become a booming success with wealthy local customers and tourists alike who looked for international elite and authentic local products.    The key factors of success were top location and superb range of local and international food and beverage products.

The third grocery on 2-A, Kozubinskiy St. (opened on December, 14, 2002 in Kiev) has become a masterpiece and “must visit” sight of Kiev and the only one in Ukraine unparalleled in its artistic design, delicatessen cuisine and confectionery made from only natural ingredients with original and authentic recipes.

The “Chumatskiy Shlyah” delicatessen boutique at Kozubinskiy St. is a unique retail format in its offer of in-house fresh dishes and meals created by renowned and dedicated professional Chefs which prepare everything on site in a hi-tech cuisine studio and confectionery shop. The quality, taste and freshness of our food has made it very popular with customers. They order it for both daily meals and special occasions at our catering service which is supported by online shopping. 

The gastronomy and grocery counters will satisfy most discerning customers by the offer of the top quality European specialties like Spanish Jamons and Italian Parma, French, German, Italian and Spanish sausages and pates, great range and selection of European cheese varieties, olive oils and pasta, organic premium juices from Germany and other organic products. “Freshness all year round” is the key principle not limited to fruits, vegetables and bread only. Our shop assistants and consultants cater for each customer’s gastr. onomic needs personally and individually developing long lasting relationship with Customers

  The wholesale department was opened in 2003. It began direct imports from foreign suppliers and development of their brands in Ukraine.

Three more “Chumatskiy Shlyah” shops were opened in 2004 in Kiev (at 15/5, Instituskiy St., 9, Grushevskogo St. and 2/34, Kikvidze St. with the latter two housing separate cafes). These shops attract the wealthy and rich customers who require upmost care and attention in product selection, its quality and service level.

In May of 2009 the company enters a supermarket format under the TM “Evropa” (located at 16B, Solomenskaya St. in Kiev) with an adjacent bar and restaurant “Churchill” which targets well-off middle class consumers.

The increasingly upward mobile and internet consumers are offered online shopping facility to match the fast paced modern living (http://shlyah.kiev.ua/)

In response to the consumers demand for “Chumatskiy Shlyah” products two shops ( at 7, Pobedi Ave. and 9, Grushevskogo St.) are being refurbished to allow for in-house “Chumtskiy Shlyah” made products to be offered as well expanding the range of international products which are sold in other “Chumatskiy Shlyah” delicatessen gastronomic groceries. It will finally allow our customers to taste the full range of masterpieces from our Chefs at all locations.

One more new shop is in the offing and will be open shortly before 2011 expires.

It is also located in the historical heart of Kiev close to St. Sophia and St. Michaels squares. (at 18, Mala Zhitomirskaya St.)

We have a lot of ambitious plans! The way to achieve them is the way of “Chumakis” which lies across our land and beyond. It is the way of constant search for the better among the best and constant improvement and perfection!

We know well and hold high the history of our country. We follow in the steps of our predecessors “chumaki” who traded with the far corners of the countries in Europe and Ukraine. We preserve the traditions and recipes of our national cuisine and develop the new modern Ukrainian styles. It empowers us for new development.

       Develop our retail chain under 2 brands : “Chumatskiy Shlyah “ and “Stolichni gastronomi”.

       Open 5 new shops.       

       Our cooked meals and confectionery are and will remain the best in the city.

       30 % of our range of products is available only in our shops and 50 % are not available in super markets and hypermarkets

       20 % of products are to be organic.

       Our service and atmosphere are to be referred to as “the Best for me in the city” by our Customers.

       Our on-line shopping facility is to be polled as the “highest rated” among gourmet internet shops.
